Thrifty Thusday #5

This week I haven't been to overly creative.  I've been working on bridal shower stuff for my best friend's wedding (I love saying that!).  I am going to share with you this week a projects that I did one morning in about 20 minutes.  I was heading to a wedding that day and had just bought a FREAKING FABULOUS Gap wrap dress form my favorite consignment store for a mere $15!  The dress was great, I just wanted to add a little pizzaz to it!

I got up that morning and decided that I was going to make something to wear with my dress.  Ambitious, I know!  Though, what I made turned out quite nice and I'm really happy with it.  The best part, it was completely free to me and would only cost someone who didn't have the supplies on hand a tiny little enny bitty bit!
First, I decided on the colors I wanted to use.  I bought a red clutch while at the consignment store and went with that for my color inspirations.  I mean, who doesn't love some red, white and blue?

I made some rolled flowers with different fabric scraps that I had.  I promise I will get a tutorial up for you on how to make a rolled fabric flower.

I then stitched the flowers together in a cluster, so that they would be tight and easier to work with.

I then added some felt to the back, to make it one piece rather than many different pieces put together.

I hot glued on some pins to the back and slapped that baby on my dress.  I originally planned on putting the pin on the waist, but my husband's best friend was here for the weekend and had a better idea.  It's was his idea to put the pin near the neckline...what a great stylist I had!  Thanks for the help, Jason!
