PI&DI - Scarf Hanger

One thing I love is organization...those closest to me might not believe it but, it's true!  I've recently acquired a fondness for scarves as well.

While on Pinterest one day I found this...what an awesome idea!

I had all of the supplies on hand so for me, this solution was FREE!!  Who doesn't love a free project?

All you need is a hanger and some shower curtain rings...

Here's how I did it...

pinned it and did it - weekly board

All righty, I can check one more Pinterest pin off my 'to craft' list.  I love to reuse items I already have...it makes me feel so accomplished in having something new that I didn't have to pay for!

Today I have something that I am so excited to start using.  I love organization (my mom is chucking right now) I'm just not so good at keeping up with it!  I make a lot of lists and write things down.  So, I knew that this would be perfect for me.

One of my favorite parts of this craft is the price tag...absolutely nothing!  Here's how I did it...

pinned it and did it - makeup brush storage

As I mentioned before, Pinterest is a HUGE addiction that I've fallen in to!  All  of the creative ideas and tips are unbelievable...I'm SO hooked.  I have gotten SO many great ideas for simple and inexpensive crafts and organization.  I also have found quite few pictures of some gorgeous clothes, bags, shoes and living spaces...being such a visual person I am pretty much in love.

Today I want to share with you an awesome organizational idea that I found on Pinterest.  It is a smart and simple way to store your makeup brushes.  Here's how I did it...

hung up on organization

I showed you the changes to my craft room this past week on Friday update.  Now it's time to show you how I made that magnificent (not-so-)little memo board.

I knew I would need something that could house all of my inspiration and papers in my craft room.  I just wanted something that would be pretty and personalized to do it.  I knew right away that I would need a memo board of some type.  I have made memo boards before and they are SO simple.

The hardest part of this project was finding the right fabric...and frame, I'm quite picky about my frames!

best $1.99 EVER

My wonderful hubby surprised me before he left for his Basic Training for the Air Force with an iPhone.  I've been wanting one for a LoOoOoOoOoOong time and now that I have it...I LOVE IT!

I, of course got the essentials like angry birds, FaceBook, Twitter, Words with Friends and such.  Though, I really wanted to start keeping track of our spending and budgeting better.  So, I started searching in the app store and found quite a few.  I wound up just picking one...I know, risky move!  My favorite part is that it only costs $1.99!  Score!

friday update #4

My husband left this week for his Basic Training and Technical School for the Air Force.  He will be gone for about seven months.  I told him that when he comes back, the whole house will probably look completely different due to my decorating ADD!  Sorry I've been a little slow on posting, it's been quite hectic getting used to being without him

This week, I am going to show you our master bedroom...it's not done (like all the other rooms) but it's well on the way.  I actually JUST saw a project that will definitely be done in there.

get it together

The new year is upon us and a resolution that so many people make is to be more organized.  That is one resolution that I could probably stand to make...just ask my husband!  It's not that I don't have plans or ideas on how to be more organized, it's more that my plans involve buying things and I haven't been able to figure out a cheaper way to make them happen!
So, I decided to spend the night trying my best to sort through most of my junk and organize what I decide is most important to keep.  I am trying to come up with ways to keep the costs down and spend as little as possible.
I started with the Christmas decorations...so sad to see them come down.  Being our first year together, we had no storage solution for these goodies.  I ran to Wal-Mart and bought a standard plastic tub, I got a 58 qt one...one of the smaller ones, it was only about $5.  However, if you have oodles and oodles of things to store, you may want to get a bigger tub!  I packed away the decorations and labeled them.

To label them I used markers, index cards and packing tape.  I wrote 'Christmas Decorations' twice on one card then cut the card in half.  One label is for the side of the box and one is for the lid.  I used the packing tape to completely cover the labels, this is important, especially if you are planning to store the tubs outside.  I chose not to write directly on the tub just in case I decide to use it for something else later down the road.  I also wanted to write a list of exactly what was inside the box, this will come in handy when looking for something specific later on.  To get the bubbles out of the tape use a credit card or something like it to rub the length of the strip of tape.  I used a Dave and Busters Card...it's what was closest to me!

I then moved on to m craft supplies...my husband was quite appreciative of this!  I sorted out what I had and actually found some stuff that I had forgotten I had..score!  I had three tubs to use so I sorted my supplies into three categories: floral, fabric and craft supplies.  Whatever you are organizing first you need to decide how many tubs you have room for and what size.  Then comes the hard part...you can only keep what you have room for!  Eeeeek...I know, it's not easy in the least bit but, that's part of organizing.
I'm so excited to start the year off right, with things all in order...well, with some things all in order!  My husband appreciates that I can now see all in one place how much craft stuff I have...he's hoping maybe I won't buy much more.  He's got high hopes.
